About John Roberts
In 2004, John Roberts completed a thirty year police career with the Chicago Police Department, retiring at the rank of Captain. During his career Roberts acquired considerable command-level experience and very diverse professional experience while working his way up through the ranks and the positions he held in operational, investigative, technical support and administrative divisions. Throughout his career Roberts demonstrated unwavering commitment to higher education and earned four college degrees at local universities, including a doctoral degree which he completed just prior to retirement at the School of Education at Loyola University Chicago. Roberts put his education and professional experience to work by teaching part-time at the Center for Public Safety at Northwestern University and at Lewis University. After retiring from his police career Roberts accepted an appointment as the Program Chair of Criminal/Social Justice at Lewis University. In 2008 Roberts retired from that position and is now devoting most of his time to public safety consulting and advocacy for higher education and continuing professional training for all law enforcement personnel.
